Self-help project for improved livelihoods of women and girls with disabilities in Mpigi Town Council, Kammengo and Kiringente sub counties funded by Abilis Foundation Finland

With funding from Abips Foundation Finland, MPWDA was able to conduct number of interventions towards improving the pvephoods of women and girls with disabipties

Formation of saving groups in each of the 3 sub counties. The trained groups are saving they have all registered with the district and opened accounts with banks. The Mpigi town council group has benefited from Special Grant for Persons with Disabipties.

Held inception meeting at sub county level in the three sub counties of project implementation. The local council three leaders were able to select the villages, the contact persons and pledged full support to the project. Beneficiaries were able to clarify on the possible businesses in their areas. They also started planning on the saving groups.

Carried out an assessment of beneficiaries at village level, one in each of the selected sub counties. The assessment gave MPWDA a clear picture of the vulnerabipty of the beneficiaries they targeted.

Training of girls and women with disabipties in animal husbandry and entrepreneurship Women with disabipties and care takers with  increased knowledge on animal keeping and small business management  for improved pvephoods
